Step #1
Easy Setup

Together parents and children setup the Expected Behaviors using EasyChild's age appropriate suggestion list or create your own. Each behavior is assigned a relative point value. You also specify the Other Behaviors you are trying to discourage and include Extra Behaviors you would like to encourage for extra credit. Every chart can be customized to your families and child's individual needs. Good behaviors and chores are positive points and misbehaviors are minus points.

Step #2
Using the System

The Weekly Point Sheet

The weekly point sheet tracks chores and behaviors and is printed out on paper once at the beginning of the week and kept on the refrigerator. Just check off each behavior on the chart as it occurs or later when you get a free moment. Kids like checking off the things that get them positive points, but you usually have to check off the minus ones.

Step #3
Earning instead of Arguing

By establishing levels of privileges and eliminating entitlements, children earn their privileges depending on how many points they accumulated the previous week.

If a child is doing well they will usually be on Level A. You can name each level and select the percentage of expected points needed.

Its is always a good idea to involve the children and let them have some input into the process. By Involving them, children feel empowered and will enjoy the system.

You can also use the built-in allowance feature to calculate earned allowance for the week where each point is equal to so many cents. See reward chart example

Step #4
Good Behavior

In about three weeks, children start to change their strategy from arguing to get what they want, to looking for ways to earn it. Kids go from not doing their chores and you having to constantly remind them, to asking for extra chores to help out. Think of all of the time you will save.

Kids love the system and earning more stuff and pleasing you.
